Post lifts are designed to lift vehicles, for under-vehicle repair.
There are many types of lifts out there, but they all require similar
specifications for their mounting applications. When mounting post-lifts
of any kind, it is best to start with fresh concrete. If the concrete
has cracks or is crumbling, it should be replaced before trying to mount
any type of machinery to it. Automobiles are heavy, and faulty concrete
could lead to poorly installed equipment.
Post lifts can be mounted in private garages for individual projects.
Instructions
1.Position
the post-lifts upright, 109 ½-inches apart. They should be at least 6
inches away from a crack or a seam. Their arms should be facing each
other, and their bases should be parallel.
2.Mark the bolting
holes through the mounting brackets, and on the cement by tracing
through the bolt holes with your pencil. Drill a 3/4-inch-diameter, and 5
½-inch-deep hole in each of the markings. Keep the drill bit
perpendicular to the cement.
3.Blow the dust out with your air-compressor, to clean out the holes.
4.Tap
the anchor bolts gently into each of the holes with your hammer, and
leave ¾-inch of the bolt at the top. Do not damage the threads. Place
the washer over each bolt, and screw the nuts on, until they're finger
tight. Tighten them down with your wrench, turning them no more than 3
full turns. Very hard concrete may only require 2 full turns. If the
bolts pull out, they will need to be relocated.
